Maintaining your own mental well-being can mean much more than just attending therapy.
Therapy is certainly an important aspect however if therapy isn’t or can’t be an option, having a Mental Health Starter Kit can be a wonderful supplement.
If you’re asking, “What is a Mental Health Starter Kit”, refer to this article 1st: https://www.catalysscounseling.com/post/what-is-a-mental-health-starter-kit-mhsk
One of the primary goals of therapy as a whole is for you to feel more confident in your abilities to manage distressing situations in your day to day life. Whether that is dealing with a stressful deadline at work, struggling to connect with your friends or partner, or simply the act of getting out of bed each day causing significant distress, having a Mental Health Starter Kit for yourself can be crucial.
If you constantly find yourself wondering how to be a healthy functioning adult human, you have come to the right place!
In our 6 week interactive Mental Health Starter Kit group, we will be breaking down the
choices that we all make everyday. The first step to understanding the choices we make is to first have awareness of it. It’s almost impossible to improve your behaviors if we do not realize you are doing them. Conveniently, the first activity we will be addressing in group is developed specifically to highlight behaviors. Highlighting will allow you to increase your awareness and serve as a launching point for the upcoming activities in group.
From there, we will work on skill building. Most of the activities planned for the remainder of the group will focus on increasing knowledge and building sustainable skills to take with you.
Increasing awareness, gaining knowledge, and increasing skills are at the core of a successful Mental Health Starter Kit. Armed with this experience, you can begin to rely more on yourself and take time to assess your own behaviors and how they are serving you. This in turn can increase your confidence in your day to day life.
Note that this group is not a replacement for therapy. If you have the available resources, seeking out therapy is always a good decision. However, this group can be a great supplement or introduction to therapy.
The importance of a Mental Health Starter Kit is to simply allow the opportunity to connect with yourself authentically and build your life off of what you want to see for yourself rather than allowing life to happen to you.
