Meet our Relationship Process Group facilitators:
We are Jessica Carpenter, LPCC, and Shannon Heers, LPC, LMHC, CAS, ACS, experienced relationship counselors and group facilitators. We help adults like you go from feeling lonely and discouraged in relationships to having self-confidence in your connections with others so your relationships can thrive! Our trained therapists will help you explore and clarify your relational values, learn how to handle conflict, and change unhealthy relationship patterns.
How Does the Group Work?
Our group facilitators help create trust and understanding between group members. We observe the group dynamics between members and invite you to share what you’re noticing about yourself and others in the group, in the moment. When conflict or uncomfortable emotions arise, the group facilitators explore those moments safely, with intention. This helps to build your confidence, connection among members, and cultivates the skills that will make your relationships stronger.
The Goals of the Relationship Process Group are to:
-
Help you build and maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships in your life.
-
Equip you with tools to manage emotions effectively, especially in relational contexts.
-
Provide a space where you feel heard, valued, and connected.
-
Empower you to apply what you learn in the group to your daily lives and relationships.
What to expect from the Relationship PRocess Group:
Small Groups:
Your Relationship Process Group will be small, up to 6 people per group. This is so you can get the most out of your group experience. A small group also gives you a chance to seek out feedback about how to change your relationship patterns.
Closed Group:
We want you to connect in meaningful ways to your other group members. So, the Relationship Process Group is not designed as a drop-in group. You will see the same people in your group each week. Process groups meet weekly on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The groups are ongoing and new members are added as openings become available.
The Relationship Process Group meets weekly:
We know it is a big commitment to attend a weekly group, and we also believe this format will help you reach your relationship goals more quickly. We ask that group members commit to four consecutive weeks to get comfortable and have an opportunity to explore themes more deeply. If you decide the group is not a fit, we are happy to help you find a more appropriate option.
Process group:
A process group means that deeper relationship healing can occur more quickly than say, in individual counseling or a support group. Our Relationship Process Group helps to make that happen by focusing on the relationships among the participants in your group. When you show up in a group, it's likely that you repeat your past relationship patterns. A Relationship Process Group offers you a safe place to try new ways of interacting in relationships.
In-person group:
As this group is so heavily focused on healing interactions between people inside and outside of the group, the group will meet in-person in order to get the most benefits and foster the strongest sense of cohesion. If you are interested in the group but are unable to attend in person, please still reach out as we may offer virtual groups in the future.
Still Unsure about our Relationship PRocess Group?
It may seem odd to do group counseling for relationship concerns. And we get it, groups can be intimidating! Just the thought of opening up to a bunch of people you don't know can also be anxiety-provoking. But we guarantee that you are not the only one feeling like this. Every other person in the group is also nervous to get started and meet others in the group. Because of that, we talk about our anxiety in the group itself, which is one way to promote connections between group members.
The Relationship Process Group is an interpersonal process group, a specific type of group that yields significant results in your self-awareness, personal growth and relationship development. Research shows that group counseling for relationships is highly effective. We love groups so much, we even wrote a blog about it to help demystify the group experience: What is Group Therapy Like For You?
If you're still unsure and have more questions about our Relationship Process Group, you can also contact us for a free 20 minute phone consultation.
